Ardbeg Uigeadail Islay Single Malt
Ardbeg Uigeadail [ard-bag] [oog-ih-dahl] is an Islay whiskey that’s named after the loch that supplies water to the Ardbeg distillery. The name Uigeadail is said to translate to “dark place” though the flavors of this lovely Scotch will surely not be taking you to a dark place, but should instead be lifting your spirits while sending you on an enchanted journey as you traverse its fascinating depth of flavors.
Ardbeg Uigeadail is a non chill-filtered, uncolored, single malt scotch with a rich peaty taste that’s heavy, yet delightful and entirely satisfying. Bottled at 54.2%, there’s a nice bit of heat to this very honest whiskey. There are notes of dark chocolate and raisin with a touch of citrus. The smokiness from the peat is reminiscent of a late night campfire in September but it’s not overpowering at all and remains perfectly balanced with the charred oak and subtle Sherry finish. It’s an absolute treat to the senses (and the pocketbook!)
